When it comes to training for a career as a Professional Celebrant, choosing the right kind of training provider is crucial. With so many options out there - from residential courses to distance learning and ‘evergreen’ programmes - it can be hard to know which path will truly set you up for success.
At the Celebrant Circle we offer a 5-day, in-depth, in-person training course that will qualify you in both family and funeral Celebrancy. And we firmly believe this immersive, face-to-face experience is the best foundation for you to begin a rewarding and successful career as a celebrant.
Real-time learning and immediate Feedback

When you’re learning to design, write and deliver those all-important ceremonies that mark life’s pivotal moments, personal connection matters. We work with people, not machines or computers, and that personal approach is vital. During our in-person training, you’ll receive immediate, tailored feedback from highly experienced trainers - something that’s simply not possible with pre-recorded online courses.
You’ll also have the chance to practice your new-found skills live, in a supportive and encouraging environment, allowing you to grow in confidence every day of the course and beyond.
Being part of a supportive community from day one
Working as a Professional Celebrant is all about human connection and this starts with your training. Our 5-day course isn’t just about being handed a book of scripts or studying complicated theory. At the Celebrant Circle, we are actively building relationships, sharing experiences, and creating a network of support that continues long after the initial training course ends.
Unlike distance learning - where you might feel isolated behind a screen - our in-person training places you in a room of people who share your passion and enthusiasm for the role. Many of our students leave not just with a qualification, but with lifelong friends! ‘Life-changing’ is a feedback comment we receive time and again from our student graduates!
Learning by doing - not by watching a screen

Being a Celebrant is an active, hands-on profession that can entail many interesting rituals and practices. Online courses can be great for learning theory, but they can only take you so far. Watching videos or reading material can become boring and learners tend to flag or put their modules on hold, making it hard to pick up and continue the momentum. From the first day of training in our classroom, you will be writing ceremonies, presenting, working with other students, and troubleshooting real-life scenarios, in real time!
The practical and immersive approach to our teaching means you’re fully prepared for the day-to-day realities of working as a celebrant. We don’t just teach you the theory (although it’s necessary to learn some of this) we get you putting the teaching into immediate practice.
Tailored support for every student

Our motto is ‘exceptional training for exceptional celebrants.’ No two celebrants are the same - nor are two learners. Our experienced team can adapt and accommodate to all manner of learning styles and adjust the teaching accordingly. We answer your questions on the spot and with our high trainer to student ratio, we are able to give you the individual attention that simply isn’t possible with a ‘one-size-fits-all’ online course.
As part of our application process, the training team get to know you personally, understand your worries, help identify your career goals, and are right beside you as you develop your unique celebrant style.
A deeper learning experience in wonderful surroundings.

There’s something wonderful and life-enhancing about getting away from the day-to-day routine and giving yourself the time to immerse in a new learning experience. Our 5-day training offers you time and space to fully connect with the training, without the distractions of home or work life.
As we’ve said above, this experience truly is life-changing, and while you will emerge as a fully-trained Professional Celebrant, you will also gain an insight into your own personal strengths and talents that you may not have previously known about! It’s a continuous joy for us to watch our students’ confidence grow as they work through the week. This depth of connection builds not just your knowledge and skills, but your confidence and professional identity as a celebrant.
We choose our training venues carefully, with an eye to not only the classroom experience but your overall comfort. All of our venues are beautifully appointed with comfortable beds, great views, in-room tea, coffee and snack facilities and access to the outdoors, to walk, work and relax outside the classroom. Both of our Brighton and Midlands hotels have free access to the spa and swimming pools - a great way to wind down after a hard days work!
In conclusion…

Online or distance learning might work for some professions, but, Celebrancy is very different. It’s people-centered, deeply personal, highly practical, and emotionally connected. The best training mirrors this ethos and that’s why in-person training is the touchstone of all that we do.
So, if you’re serious about becoming an ‘exceptional’ celebrant, our 5-day in-person training is the best investment you can make towards your new career.
